Full Terms and conditions

OUR HIRE CHARGES INCLUDE

  • Ready-to-go Camper (not to be taken out of the UK - European cover available at OXCAMPERS discretion and for an extra fee).
  • Comprehensive insurance cover for up to 2 drivers (subject to terms).
  • Breakdown assistance.
  • Mileage limited to 300 miles per day.
  • Camping and Caravan Club Privilege Membership
  • Full tank of Diesel, the camper must be returned with a full tank. Failure to do so will incur a cost of £1.50 per litre.

INSURANCE

Our Campers have comprehensive insurance for named drivers who meet the criteria of hiring our Campers only. All interior equipment and other items supplied in the Camper are not covered by the insurance and any damage or loss will incur costs in addition to the excess.

Failing to provide correct information may invalidate the insurance cover and render the Hirer liable for the losses however sustained including claims by third parties.

The insurance for the Camper is limited to 75% of cover for the consequences resulting from fire damage due to cooking or heating. In this instance, the Hirer is liable for the remaining 25%.
In the event of an insurance claim being made, the Hirer is liable for the £500 excess (or excess of a greater amount if notified before the hire period begins) which is due in each and every incident. This excess is taken in the form of a Security Deposit at the beginning of the hire period.

The hirer will also be fully liable for any repair or replacement of the windscreen and any damaged tyres

Any claim arising from the loss of the Camper where the keys were left inside whilst the Camper was unattended will be payable by the Hirer as this is not covered by the insurance.

DRIVERS

  • Drivers between the ages of 25-75 are covered within our standard insurance.
  • Drivers must have held a full UK driving licence for at least 2 years.
  • Drivers should not have more than 6 penalty points on their licence.
  • Drivers must declare their occupation on the booking form as some restrictions may apply, i.e. professional sportsman, under graduates, military personnel.
  • Details of all drivers is required.
  • Each driver must bring proof of identification to confirm their address, utility bills less than 3 months old are sufficient.
  • Each driver must bring both parts of their driving licence when collecting the camper. If the driver has an old style licence then a passport must also be submitted as photo identity.

HOLIDAY INSURANCE

We recommend that you take out suitable holiday insurance to cover any cancellation that may be incurred and any loss of personal possessions due to fire or theft damage to the camper as this is not covered by our insurance.

SECURITY DEPOSIT

A refundable deposit of £500 is payable either; in advance by cleared payment in the form of a cheque or the day before hire begins by bank transfer or card payment. Card payments are processed by WorldPay and accepted cards are shown below. (If payment is made by card, a non-refundable administration charge of 2.8% will be added). This security deposit will be refunded on return of the Camper to our location at the agreed time on the agreed date, in the same condition in which it was hired - with the interior and all cooking appliances/equipment clean and a full tank of diesel. Any breakages, damage to the Camper or missing items will be deducted from the security deposit. This includes any damage to any extras that are hired, i.e sat nav, awning etc. (A full inventory and vehicle report will be given at the beginning of the hire period and checked at the end)

Campers will not be released without security deposit, proof of address and driving licence (and passport if applicable).

BOOKING/PAYMENT

Availability of our vans can be determined by filling out a booking enquiry form. Upon receipt of this OXCAMPERS will confirm availability and e-mail you a booking form which must be printed, filled out, signed and sent back to us with a non-refundable deposit to the value of 25% of the hire booking. Once this has been received along with payment, then the camper will be reserved. Full payment is required 4 weeks before the date of hire. Payments can be made by cash, cheque, bank transfer or card. (an administration charge of 2.8% will be added to card payments). Late bookings, made less than 4 weeks before hire, will need to be paid for in full at the time of booking. If this is less than 1 week from hire then a cheque will not be accepted as payment.

DISCOUNT CODE

Only one discount code may be applied per booking and voucher must be sent in with the booking form. Discounts will only be applied to the standard hire fee. Any extras will be charged at full price.

CLEANING

The Hirer agrees that OXCAMPERS are entitled to charge them an additional cleaning cost, if the Camper is not returned in a clean condition and requires more than our usual cleaning on its return in order to return it to its pre-rental condition (allowing for fair wear and tear).

SMOKING

  • OXCAMPERS operate a strict No Smoking policy in our Campers and awnings (where used).
  • Any additional cleaning costs incurred due to smoking in the Camper or awning will be deducted from the security deposit
  • Damage caused by smoking is not covered by the insurance; therefore the hirer will be liable for the full cost of repairs up to the value of the Camper or awning.

PETS

OXCAMPERS allow up to 2 small dogs or 1 large dog at an additional charge of £2.00 per dog per day. This is for the additional cost incurred for cleaning the Camper. Pets must be disclosed on our booking form and only those that OXCAMPERS confirm are acceptable may be allowed in to the Camper. Any damage caused by pets will be charged to the Hirer. Pets must never be left alone or unattended in the Camper.

CHANGE OF CAMPER

OXCAMPERS reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to substitute your chosen Camper with a comparable replacement.

CANCELLATION CHARGES

The hirer has 7 working days from the day of booking to cancel and receive a full refund; this must be done in writing.

There is no full refund cancellation period where the hire starts within 7 days of the booking.

If the unforeseeable happens and you must cancel your hire more than 4 weeks in advance then the booking deposit will be kept by OXCAMPERS.

If you cancel less than 4 weeks from the hire date then the full booking payment will be kept by OXCAMPERS. If, however, we manage to find another booking for this hire period then your booking payment will be returned minus the deposit.

BREAKDOWN COVER

We have comprehensive breakdown assistance for each of our Campers. If you experience any difficulties please contact us first in-case we can help. In the event of a breakdown, recovery or (where possible) repair services will be provided by the AA. If any minor costs are incurred in the repair of mechanical failure to the drive train and/or engine, the hirer is authorised to spend up to £50 on repairs which will be reimbursed upon production of a VAT receipt on return, provided the hirer was not directly responsible for the problems.  Repairs in excess of this amount must be authorised by OXCAMPERS before work is undertaken. No works on the audio system, cooker, or auxiliary electrics are authorised without permission from OXCAMPERS.

If you break down, you must remain at a safe distance from the Camper until the AA Recovery assistance arrives. You must not abandon the Camper at the roadside and any costs incurred arising from loss or damage to the Camper whilst it is left unattended at the roadside will be deducted from the security deposit.

In the event of a breakdown where no repair is possible within a reasonable time, AA Relay will be provided to our premises where a replacement van may be offered (subject to availability).

Our liability extends no further than to either replace your Camper or refund your hire charge for any days remaining where total use of the Camper has been lost. If the breakdown has been caused by driver neglect or misuse then no replacement camper or refund will be provided, and the hirer will be responsible for all costs incurred.

COLLECTION/RETURN

The Campers are available for collection from 3pm on the day of hire. Please allow 45 minutes for the hand over. This includes the paperwork and a tour of the Camper. The Campers must be returned by 12 noon on the agreed date. OXCAMPERS must be notified of any late return, unless arranged in advance. Failure to do so will incur a cost of £20 per hour. Any further costs incurred due to disruption of the next hirer's holiday due to a late return will be passed onto the hirer.

The Hirer acknowledges that having received the Camper in a clean condition with a full fuel tank and in good working order in accordance with the Departure Checklist, the Hirer will return the Camper in the same condition on the return date and time as set out under the heading "Hire Dates" on the Booking Form.
The Hirer acknowledges that OXCAMPERS will not refund any monies or have any obligation to provide a replacement Camper if it is returned or the Hirer ceases to have the use of the Camper before the return date for any reason e.g. accident, weather or theft.

ROAD RESTRICTIONS

Our Campers are only to be driven on sealed/bitumen roads, Campsites with gravel tracks are an exception but care must be taken. Any damage arising from use of the Camper off the public highway will be payable by the hirer.

ALTERATIONS TO THE CAMPER

The Hirer shall not, under any circumstances, make alterations or additions to the Camper.

CAMPER MAINTENANCE

The Hirer is responsible for maintaining the Camper whilst it is on hire to them. This includes daily checks of oil and water levels and tyres. O X Campers will reimburse the Hirer up to £50.00 for any expenses which are reasonably incurred in rectifying any mechanical failure to the engine of the Camper where the maintenance kit provided is insufficient. A refund will only be made when the hirer produces relevant VAT receipts on return of the Camper at the end of the hire period, and provided that the damage is not deemed to be caused by a breach of this Agreement by the Hirer.

KEYS

In the event that the hirer losses or damages the keys beyond use or they are stolen, then they will be liable for the resonable cost of obtaining replacement keys and any costs associated with providing the keys to the hirer during the hire period. The Camper must be locked at all times when left unattended.

YOUR CAR

During the hire period of the Camper, the hirer may park their car off the public highway at our address, but they do so at their own risk. We cannot accept any responsibility for the loss or damage to their car or its contents.

RESPONSIBILITY IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT

In the event of any accident, loss or damage arising out of the use of the Camper, the Hirer must notify OXCAMPERS within 12hrs of the event. The hirer must obtain the names and addresses of third parties and of any witnesses to the event, and must report the event to the nearest police station. The Hirer undertakes to assist OXCAMPERS in handling any claim arising from any event, including providing all relevant information and attending Court to give evidence, where necessary

HIRER LIABILITIES

The hirer is personally liable for all road tolls, fines and legal penalties (e.g. parking tickets, speeding fines) which are incurred within the hire period. Any charges subsequently notified to OXCAMPERS will immediately be invoiced to the Hirer and OXCAMPERS will require payment within 14 days. This sum will be deducted from the Hirers Security Deposit if this is still being held by OXCAMPERS. The Hirer is liable for: any damage above cab height and for damage caused by failure to assess the height of the Camper and striking overhead or overhanging objects; any damage to third parties and their property that arises through negligence; for example and without limitation: damage caused by luggage loaded on the roof and cycles; the cost of recovering the Camper when it has become stuck due to driver error. Finally, the hirer is liable for any loss or damage to the Camper and its contents provided, this includes any of the Extras which are hired out and specified on the 'Booking Form', caused through failure to follow the operating instruction in the Campers handbook. In particular; It is the Hirer's responsibility to ensure that the elevating roof (where fitted) is secured correctly before driving the Camper. Failure to do so and to operate the elevating roof in the way explained in the handbook will cause damage in excess of the security deposit which the hirer shall be liable for; It is the Hirer's responsibility to ensure that the bike rack (where hired), and any bikes on it are secured correctly and safely. OXCAMPERS do not accept any liability for; any damage to the Camper or third party property that is damaged as a result of the Hirer failing to follow the instructions supplied and/or any bikes that are stolen whilst secured on the bike rack. Any losses or damage shall be deducted from the Hirers security deposit.

USING THE CAMPER

The Camper must not be used for anything other than that it was designed and is not to be: driven otherwise than in a cautious, prudent and normal manner; used in a manner which could cause damage; driven in a prohibited area; taken outside of the UK; driven by a person under the influence of alcohol or drugs; left unoccupied with the ignition key in the Camper; left unoccupied without the stereo faceplate removed; valuables concealed; driven by anyone other than those who have met the insurance requirements and are specified on the Hire Agreement; damaged by submersion into water; used for any illegal purpose for any race, rally or contest; used to tow any vehicle; used to carry passengers or property for hire or reward; used to carry more persons than is permitted by the number of seat belts and any relevant authority; used to carry volatile liquids, gases, explosives or other corrosive or inflammable material; or otherwise used in breach of the Hirers obligations under this Agreement.  

TERMINATION OF THE AGREEMENT

The Hirer acknowledges that OXCAMPERS may terminate the Hire Agreement and repossess the Camper at any time, without notification to the Hirer, and that the Hirer will pay the reasonable costs of repossessing the Camper, including towing charges if the Hirer is in breach of any term of this Agreement, has obtained the Camper through fraud or misrepresentation, the Camper appears to be abandoned, the Camper is not returned on or OXCAMPERS has reason to believe that the Camper will not be returned on the agreed return date. OXCAMPERS considers on reasonable grounds, that the safety of passengers or the condition of the Camper is endangered.
In the event of such termination or repossession, the Hirer has no right to a refund of any part of the Hire charges or the Security Deposit.

TITLE TO THE VEHICLE

The Hirer acknowledges that OXCAMPERS retains title to the Camper and that the Hirer possess the goods as a mere bailee only and does not have any right to pledge O X Camper's credit in connection with the Camper and agree not to do so and shall not agree, attempt, offer or purport to sell, assign, sublet, lend, pledge, mortgage, let on hire, or otherwise part with or attempt to part with the personal possession of or otherwise deal with the Camper.

PLEASE BE AWARE

Any changes made to this agreement must be done so in writing, signed on behalf of OXCAMPERS and by the Hirer. OXCAMPERS reserves the right to add or amend any hire charges without prior notice
