Based in Baydon, Wiltshire, OXCampers is a family run business born through wanting to share our love and passion for travelling the country in a VW Camper with others. Kyja and I were introduced to the VW Camper scene through our good friends Pete and Suzie back in June 2009, when they purchased their VW T4, named Girtie.
Having both been brought up on camping and boating holidays, we decided that buying a camper was the next step for us. So, five months later, after weeks of searching the internet, we purchased our first VW T4 (Croyde), which, once converted, sparked the idea of what is now OXCampers!
At the time, our dream was for our business to not only support our young family but also provide customers with lifelong memories. As the business grew so did our hire fleet, and our 10-year plan soon became to own all brand new VWs
Fast forward 14 years and we now own five T6.1’s and also one of the very lastest T7’s.
All our campervans can sleep four people comfortably. Don’t be fooled by the size—everything you need is in the van, and there’s plenty of storage space for all your belongings. You just need to bring a bag of clothes and a few groceries. If we can manage two weeks road-tripping around Spain with two young children and a Labrador, then you can, too!
We hope that by hiring out our vans, we can give others the opportunity to kick back, relax and explore our beautiful country in comfort and style.

We have just collected our converted van and are completely thrilled with it. The quality of the conversion and the level of service we received were both excellent – we were kept updated on progress during the conversion and there were no hidden costs or extras. I was convinced to use Oxcampers to convert our van after hiring one of their campers for a holiday last year and would certainly recommend them for van hire also!
Rented the Chesil for a week, fantastic van and service. Mark and co were responsive and easy going, made the whole experience super easy right from the initial enquiry. You have to rent from these people. They are passionate about their campers, and every detail is considered to make your holiday so much easier. The Gooding’s Camper ‘A Year On’
It’s been a good year and we have definitely made good use of the van. We’ve been on several UK weekend and long weekend trips including a couple of early brave trips in March in the Cotswolds and to The Kielder forest. Both trips made good use of the Diesel combo hob/heater. Knowing we wouldn’t run out of gas was great but the same can’t be said for electric when we tested the limits for off grid camping when there was no sunshine to recharge the batteries (we have since invested in a new leisure battery with greater capacity).
Over the summer months the van offered a home from home for most of the summer. Cornbury Festival and The Big Feastival were made easy when making camp simply involved driving in, popping the roof and getting the beers out! Another festival in Metz in France for a week long hot air balloon festival started off the school holidays. A quick trip home to pick up the wife then saw us back on the shuttle for a road trip to the Italian lakes, Tuscan hills, French Riviera and Loire valley. The van is currently tucked up for winter but will be back on the road in the spring for another year of family adventures.
Both the van and the conversion have been brilliant. The base van itself has been excellent, only one minor issue with the clutch slave cylinder but Renault replaced that without even a suggestion that I put my hand in my pocket for it. Similarly the conversion has been fab. The only minor issue was a squeak with the SCA roof. Took a bit of time to locate the source but a bit of felt on the bed section soon sorted that out. There are a few things I would change on the conversion but then you built it to my specification so I can’t blame you for that. Perhaps I’ll make the changes on the next one!

Awesome van, high end conversion with great quality kit, great value as well. Had a great time away in the gower and forest of dean with my kids and would definately recommend and use again.
We did quite a lot of research when planning to get our T5 converted and Oxcampers were clearly the best company by miles in terms of reputation. We meet with Mark and Kyja who were both fantastic in providing us with recommendations and information without a hard sell, we booked our van in for conversion and it was completed as per our expectations. Now we have spent some time in the van, the quality is to the highest standard, we are delighted with the work done by Mark and are so grateful for such a great experience.
