Based in Baydon, Wiltshire, OXCampers is a family run business born through wanting to share our love and passion for travelling the country in a VW Camper with others. Kyja and I were introduced to the VW Camper scene through our good friends Pete and Suzie back in June 2009, when they purchased their VW T4, named Girtie.
Having both been brought up on camping and boating holidays, we decided that buying a camper was the next step for us. So, five months later, after weeks of searching the internet, we purchased our first VW T4 (Croyde), which, once converted, sparked the idea of what is now OXCampers!
At the time, our dream was for our business to not only support our young family but also provide customers with lifelong memories. As the business grew so did our hire fleet, and our 10-year plan soon became to own all brand new VWs
Fast forward 14 years and we now own five T6.1’s and also one of the very lastest T7’s.
All our campervans can sleep four people comfortably. Don’t be fooled by the size—everything you need is in the van, and there’s plenty of storage space for all your belongings. You just need to bring a bag of clothes and a few groceries. If we can manage two weeks road-tripping around Spain with two young children and a Labrador, then you can, too!
We hope that by hiring out our vans, we can give others the opportunity to kick back, relax and explore our beautiful country in comfort and style.

We, Andrew, I and our dog Murphy, have just got back from an amazing five days away in and around Snowdonia in the T5 Cromer – We had such an amazing time (Freakin Awesome), we can’t thank you enough. It is truly the best way to see the UK; no messing around spending hours trying to put up the tent when you get to where you want to be – just plug in the electric’s, open the wine and relax. We even took our wee coffee machine so we could have fresh coffee every morning. Frankly with Ox Campers it couldn’t be easier – they provide everything you need, just pack your tooth brush, change of pants, a few bits of what you fancy food-wise and you are away. You can stop for lunch anywhere; we spent a memorable day on Black Rock Sands at Portmadog where you can drive onto the beach (photo attached) – after a breathtaking walk along miles of beach we were back in the T5 for hot soup, local bread and a fresh cup of tea (heaven). The T5 was apparently brilliant to drive – although I didn’t get a look in as Andrew enjoyed driving it so much I was left to navigate.
Thank you again, we have already recommended OxCampers to anyone who asks us if we have had a good holiday.

When we decided to spend a month in a camper van driving round the Scottish highlands and islands, Oxcampers was the first place to go after an earlier long weekend in Fistral went well and was a good dry run.
We chatted to Mark about dates and secured Croyde for the trip, it came with all that we needed – no need to go out and buy camping chairs. Pick up from the workshop was straightforward, Mark talked me through everything on the van, how it all works and when I inevitably forgot what he said this was backed up with the handbook in the van and Mark’s mobile number for emergencies.
The van was so easy to drive and covered more than 2,000 miles without a hitch, never struggling and easily coping with Scotland’s hills and narrow roads the most challenging being the Bealach na Ba which leads to the Applecross peninsula in Wester Ross and rises to over 2,000 feet from sea level.
Sadly we had to give it back at the end of the trip but I’d recommend the trip, Mark and Oxcampers to anyone.
We first approached Mark at Oxcampers and firstly hired Croyde for a week in Cornwall. An excellent van, so good in fact we decided we needed our own! Myself and my wife (Lesley) are both active scuba divers and we needed the van to carry our dive kit and give us a base to stay in for our frequent weekends away. We sat down with Mark and agreed our design and specification. Mark supplied detail costings and was a great font of knowledge of all things campers. Our extensive wish list became reality and construction was started. Mark kept us informed throughout the build via Facebook and email. We took delivery and it matched all our expectations and exceeded in many. The van is an absolute joy and I must say the bed is a design based in heaven with comfort to match. The rear storage space is millimetre perfect for our dive equipment and the extra shelves are perfect for our bits and bobs of which we have loads. Marks quality of work and attention to detail is second to none and ensures you are not disappointed.
As you can tell we are bowled over by Marks work and I cannot thank him enough. If you are wanting a van converted then you should look no further than Oxcampers.

We collected Croyde from Mark on Wednesday afternoon (the introduction to the van told us all we needed to know). We drove to a site in near Ilfracombe, and parked up for a few days. It was great fun in the van, we all slept well (including banksy – a border terrier). Driving around was easy, packing the van for travel was really simple. We had a great time, but used our Uno cards, rather than the playing cards supplied with the van at night! Mark’s communication before and after the rental made the whole process a relaxed affair. We’ll hire again, it was so much fun .. discovered the “campervan” community but the difficult questions now start – T4 or T5, SWB/LWB, pre-converted or “do it yourself”

From start to finish Oxcampers were friendly, knowledgeable and offered great advice. The quality of work has been fantastic and Mark made it easy to choose colour’s and add that little bit of uniqueness to your van. They are able to do pretty much anything from a towbar to a full conversion and hire vans too if you are not sure on what you want.
